KCFCU breaks ground in East Bremerton
Ground was broken on June 16 to begin construction on Kitsap Community Federal Credit Union’s (KCFCU) new East Bremerton branch.

The new branch, located at 6651 NE Highway 303, next to Wal Mart, will be a full service facility and office building for the not-for-profit financial cooperative. It will be tenth KCFCU Kitsap location.

The new branch will encompass approximately 3,500 square feet and feature a four lane drive-up facility; two no surcharge ATM’s, one of which will be accessible by car; a technology center offering the Credit Union’s Cashline touch-tone telephone and CU@Home online transaction and bill paying services; over 850 safe deposit boxes: five teller stations and a spacious lobby.

The building itself will measure out at approximately 12,000 square feet of office space, which will accommodate several Credit Union back office entities including a call center and the Electronic Services and Accounts Control Departments.

Kitsap Credit Union President and CEO Elliot Gregg commented, “We are very much looking forward to the Grand Opening of this new facility in early 2001. It will serve as a cornerstone branch offering greater convenience to not only our sizable East Bremerton membership base, but also the growing Central Kitsap community membership. This marks a significant event in our 65-year history. It allows us to expand our products and services and share the “Credit Union Difference” and “People Helping People” philosophy with a greater number of Greater Kitsap Peninsula residents. This building will be the culmination of much research and planning for presence in the important East Bremerton corridor.”

Guests at the groundbreaking ceremony included Carolyn J. Maxon, chair of KCFCU’s board Bremerton Chamber president Stacy Dore, Silverdale Chamber president Diane Russell and county commissioner Tim Botkin.
