| Tom and Michelle Metzdorf recently announced that they were retiring from the construction industry, but will now be committing 100 percent of their efforts in their new design company Metzdorf Designs. Silverdale Rite Aid project gains approval |
| Kitsap County Hearing Examiner Stephen Causseaux has approved a Rite Aid pharmacy project planned on Bucklin Hill Road and Silverdale Way in Silverdale. The approval includes a variance from parking standards (down to 59 spaces from the 116 required). Richard Dugie, who represents the project, has declined to give an estimated construction timeline for the 18,000-square-foot building. He said the permits have been submitted, and the county approval process was a wild card. |
RE/MAX Town and Country celbrates
grand opening of new office |
| RE/MAX Town and Country celebrated the Grand Opening of its new office located in the new Sedgwick Landing Center at the corner of Sedgwick and Sidney in Port Orchard, on July 26.
The firm originally opened its doors in 2001 and had previously been located in the Safeway complex at Bethel and Lund Avenues since it opened.

Laurie Lemay joins Land Title Company |
| Land Title Company recently announced that Laurie Lemay has joined the firm as an escrow officer in the Poulsbo escrow office.
Lemay started her career in the mortgage and escrow industry in a two person office on Bainbridge Island in the early 1970s. After spending 15 years in the escrow side of the business, she spent four years with a bank in the mortgage side of the business.

| Donn Hughes, a 30-year real estate veteran, recently announced the opening of Old Towne Realty on Bay Street in Port Orchard. Its specialty is investment and/or commercial properties especially ones that are distressed.

| Curtis Hinman recently completed the Rain Garden Handbook for Western Washington Homeowners. It show home owners how to install rain gardens in their yard.
He also has produced a technical memorandum titled Modeling assumptions and results for the Western Washington Rain Garden Handbook.

TRC wins contract, breaks ground and completes tenant improvements |
| Tim Ryan Construction, Inc. of Poulsbo was recently awarded the contract for the new Wellness Center to be located at 18490 NE Suquamish Way. The new facility will provide over 6,000 square feet of tenant improvements. The project broke ground in mid-June.
TRC also broke ground for the new Simans Professional Building located at 1001 NE Riddel Rd. in Bremerton. The new facility will provide over 5,000 square feet of office space.
In addition, TRC has completed the tenant improvements for the new Ambulatory Surgery Center located at 9800 Levin Rd. NW, Silverdale. The facility provides over 9,500 square feet of tenant improvements. The owners of the project include Kitsap Outpatient Surgery LLC and Harrison Medical Center. The project was initiated by Doctors Todd Schneinderman, Eric Cole, Jason Chung, Blake Reiter and John Kerrigan.

WPC awarded AGC Build Washington

| Wade Perrow Construction (WPC) LLC of Gig Harbor has received the Associated General Contractors (AGC) Build Washington award in the category of Tenant Improvement/Remodel under $5 million. The firm was recognized for the completion of the Pantages Theater, lobby and restroom remodel. The award recognizes WPCs success in client satisfaction, sensitivity to the environment, excellent safety and loss record, management skills, use of innovative construction techniques and materials, community involvement and promoting workforce development.
Also, WPC recently hired Jeff Spaulding as a project manager. Spaulding brings an engineering, physics and mathematics background from Washington State University along with over 10 years of industry experience. He is currently providing estimating support.

| Olympic College recently announced that it will be offering a nine-month specialized training program, designed to enable graduates to advice employers or clients on strategies and tools for implementing sustainable building.
The class will meet at the OC Poulsbo Campus, one weekend (Fri. and Sat.) per month beginning in October. Registration deadline is Sept. 28 and the cost is $1,795.

BJC Group wins contract
for Fairway Lane Apartments |
| The BJC Group Inc. has been awarded the contract to construct the final phase of the Fairway Lane Apartments located in Bremerton adjacent to the Kitsap Golf and Country Club. The project involves the construction of seven different apartment buildings for a total of 56 units. The project is scheduled to start shortly and should take approximately a year to complete. |
