Live auction to benefit American Cancer Society
The EastWest Mortgage team hosts “A Night at the Roxy”, a live and silent auction to benefit the American Cancer Society’s Central Kitsap/Bremerton Relay for Life on June 3, at the Roxy Theater, 270 4th Street in Bremerton. The preview starts at 6:30 p.m. with the auction beginning at 7:30 p.m. The cost is $5 per person.

John L. Scott reports best month ever
John L. Scott Real Estate Chairman and CEO, J. Lennox Scott, announced that March was the most productive month in the company’s 74-year history.

“We’re on the back side of a power surge that resulted from rising interest rates,” said Scott referring to the gradual increase in interest rates that has been felt since February.

Scott added that whenever interest rates rise, buyers flood the market in the hopes of securing the lowest rate possible, causing a power surge of sales.

Charneski to do loan fund management training
   Kitsap County Community Development Corporation’s Director (KCCDC) and Loan Officer, Jean Charneski, will attend a national three-day training course in early May. A national organization, EDFS is giving the course in Loan Fund Management Essentials in Tennessee on May 4-6. The course covers fund design and management, marketing, loan decision process, pre-closing and loan closing activities, follow up, loan servicing and reporting, and handling delinquent loans. It also provides an opportunity to network with many other Revolving Fund managers.

Project will include 90 homes
A 90-unit development called Madeline Woods has been approved on 20 acres near Central Valley and Fairgrounds roads, adjacent to Woodland Elementary School. The project will include 86 “zero-lot-line,” or connected housing units plus four single-family homes, according to plans approved by Kitsap County Deputy Hearing Examiner Mark Hurdelbrink. Also included are five “open spaces” to be used as children’s play areas with picnic benches and a sports court.

Current zoning, allows up to five units per acre. Because of wetlands, only 8 acres are considered buildable. Mitigation is planned for intrusion into the wetlands. The developer is John Johnson of Poulsbo, who developed Meredith Heights and Kingston Meadows.

Jones attends educational conference
