The Northwestern Mutual Foundation announced that Thomas Moreland of Port Gamble has been recognized as an “Outstanding Volunteer” in the company’s national Community Service Award program. As a result, the Foundation will present a $10,000 grant in his name to Habitat for Humanity of Kitsap County.
“At Northwestern Mutual we believe being a responsible corporate citizen includes giving back to the communities where we do business, ” said Ed Zore, president and CEO of Northwestern Mutual. “Our Community Service Award program helps us achieve two goals. We recognize our representatives for their community involvement and we help improve the quality of life in the communities our representatives serve.”
“Being involved is part of my belief to extend a hand to the less fortunate and help build stronger communities and families. When I started out, we were building 1.5 houses per year; this year it’s 14. It’s great to be able to have such a big impact and help so many who are in need of affordable housing” Moreland said.
