| Have you noticed the freshly painted Morningside Bread & Pastry Company Building on Bay Street? Or the Agape or Crawford Buildings? Property owners are taking pride in their downtown again! How about the hanging flower baskets? Beautiful trees and flowerpots? New trash cans?
Through cooperation and community support, the Port Orchard Bay Street Association (POBSA) has already accomplished many projects in our marina business district.
Our community development chair, Brenda Kruse has been a driving force and thanks to her hard work plus generous donations from Soroptimist International of Port Orchard, Kitsap Bank, the City of Port Orchard, Long Lake Garden Club and Al Mahaney of Fathoms of Fun, we were able to provide our town with beautiful hanging flower baskets.
The City is currently in the process of resurfacing the sidewalks, they have diligently maintained and watered our hanging baskets and have installed new trash cans.
Our neighbors have helped us on clean-up dayswashing windows and street lamps, cleaning sidewalks, painting and planting the flower pots. Thank you to all the Downtown Neighborhood Association members, plus Jim Sparby, Bill Booth and the Sukuts.
Thanks to donations from Evergreen Lumber, Sherwin-Williams Company and Dobbs Construction, we have refaced and painted the boarded up building between Myhres Café and Makos.
Through our fundraising efforts, we have been able to create a Welcome to Port Orchard sign/guide located by the ferry terminal and visiting boaters moorage dock.
We invite you to come downtown and see your new marina business district! The Port Orchard Chamber of Commerce with support from POBSA will host the 2nd Annual Murder Mystery Weekend, Treasure and Treachery, on September 15 and 16. For details, visit www.portorchard.com.
