LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Budget
Interesting that the writer assumes it’s a “big day” when the House budget writers earmark funds for local projects. It’s also a big, bad day for taxpayers! Too bad the writer views growth in government spending as something positive.

While we appreciate some capital being earmarked our way, the growth in state government spending is frightening! Should the budget proposals put forward by House and Senate Democrats stand, growth in state government will surpass private sector growth plus inflation by a factor of four times. Since Governor Christine Gregoire has taken office, our state’s government has grown by 32 percent! How many of us have had our families’ income grow by 32 percent in four years?

It would be nice if the writer might consider a tax reduction as something positive for this district.
