| I just came back from an Easter trip to the Midwest, to visit with my family near Joliet, Illinois. While I was there, we talked a lot about the proposed NASCAR track here, and they related what a positive economic force it has been for their area. When I told them our elected officials chased it away, they were speechless. They thought I was joking.
They honestly could not conceive of politicians so stupid they would reject a major corporation that all but prints money to be spent freely in their area. My sister asked me point blank, “What do you do, elect morons out there?”
An editorial in the local paper basically asked the same question. I’m ashamed to admit, they’re probably both right.
