Business Climate
As expected, our Washington State Legislature (a Democrat majority) continues to do everything within its power to devastate small businesses in our state. The latest assault comes in the form of the mandatory Family Leave law that now extends to businesses with less than 50 employees.

Instead of allowing businesses the flexibility to work with their employees, Olympia again levees still more taxes from workers so that government, in its infinite wisdom and compassion, can “take care of everyone”.  What’s worse is that the payment amount has a built in escalator clause that will make it the most costly leave law in the nation.

Whatever happened to the notion that families can and should save a bit of money to deal with inevitable challenges? Must we always expand government and harm hardworking small businesses?

Most businesses have come to terms with the changing needs of their employees. Flexibility is often granted to support the families. Too bad this state’s leaders do not grant the same flexibility to small business owners, most of whom have families to support as well.
