| I was chairman of the Mason County Commissioners Lower Hood Canal Sewer Advisory board in 1999-2000. Eleven other citizens and I worked for two years to advise the County Commissioners on implementing a sewer for the lower end of Hood Canal.
Bill Eickmeyer chairs the advisory-committee on Hood Canal. In a Kitsap Sun article (Sheldon crosses party lines to support Neatherlin, Oct. 17)
Mr. Eickmeyer states he turned down $50 million dollars to clean up Hood Canal. I am shocked and disappointed. In the article Senator Sheldon correctly stated those funds could have been effectively used for sewer projects in Belfair, Hoodsport and the Skokomish Reservation.
Had Mr. Eickmeyer done the work the House Speaker suggested, these projects would already be benefiting Hood Canal without placing the incredible cost burden only on local residents. That opportunity may now be lost.
Its time to improve our leadership in Olympia. Ive worked with Randy Neatherlin on many key community projects. I find him energetic, smart and extremely capable. Most importantly, he gets things done. I urge you to join Tim Sheldon and me in voting for Randy Neatherlin.
