| I would like to respond to last months letter about Ron Boehme. It referred to a particular, single young woman and questioned the time spent alone as the appearance of impropriety. While I recognize that public perception is important, when I read the letter I couldnt help but laugh because it couldnt be further from the truth. I am that single young woman the writer referred to, and I would like to provide concerned voters with some additional information on this topic.
The allegations of a great deal of time spent alone are actually quite mistaken. Our campaign meetings are at Rons house where I chat with his wife Shirley and his kids come in to get stamps or ask questions about their algebra homework. That is hardly the setting for an improper relationship. We rarely work on projects alone. Often we work independently or are joined by other volunteers. While I have accompanied Ron to several political functions or forums, they are public events and many times we even drive separately.
The letter made reference to Gary Bauer and the destruction of his presidential race. It is illogical to liken a presidential campaign where there are long distances traveled, overnight hotel stays and days away at a time with a local state house race where we occasionally carpool for the 15 minute drive to the Givens Community Center. I think we can all see there is clearly a difference and that is an unfair comparison.
I appreciate the concerns of voters and hope this helps to put peoples minds at ease. There is no story here, no grey areas or questionable behavior. Ron Boehme is a man of integrity and his actions fully line up with his contentions. I am proud to work on his campaign and am grateful for the good example of character that has been modeled to me through his life.
