LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Kingston UGA
The folks in Kingston who volunteered their time and effort to help plan their community have been dealt a wicked blow. The three Governor-appointed members of the Central Puget Sound Hearings Board have decided to disallow the plan that was submitted for their review.

It’s a shame the citizens’ efforts and the desires of our elected government (county commissioners) have not pleased the Governor-appointed dictators who tell Kitsapers how we must live. Citizen desires and efforts are only meaningful if our planning conforms with what the Governor’s three friends like.

I don’t understand why the Governor does not just appoint whom she likes to plan Kitsap’s future. What an expense and waste of time for Kitsap’s employees and citizens to plan and then have the Governors’ Board disapprove the plan as it is not to their liking.

The Growth Management Act is almost impossible to understand and follow. Our planning department strives to satisfy the Governor’s Board and yet has very seldom been able to meet their requirements. It is a guessing game that we have yet to win.

It’s time for a tea party.
