LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
KUDOS
On Thursday, May 25th, the Kitsap Community Foundation (KCF) held its annual Celebration of Philanthropy (COP) Event at the Kitsap Conference Center in downtown Bremerton. This enjoyable evening was an opportunity to celebrate the many shapes and forms of “giving back” to our community.

Congratulations again to this year’s awardees: Bill Austin of Poulsbo, who received the 2006 Volunteer Award, and the Islander Angels L.L.C. of Bainbridge Island, who received the 2006 Hannah Langer Spirit of Philanthropy Award!

As a community foundation, KCF’s goal is to ‘improve the quality of life in Kitsap County through endowment-funded grants. The COP provides us with a way of sharing our mission with like-minded individuals and organizations throughout the greater Kitsap region.

The event was an outstanding success thanks to many involved. Sponsors Kitsap Peninsula Business Journal (media partner); American Marine Bank, CFA Northwest Mortgage Professionals, EHL Insurance, Fred Hill Materials, and Parametrix (table sponsors); Nuts About Hi-Fi and Vineyard Lane (Friends of the Foundation) made underwriting the event possible.

Event volunteers Liz Saliba, Richard Thornton, Jocelyn Wu-Elliot, Troy Martin, Lindsay Lattimore, Pat Callahan, Rachel Powers, Lori George and the Olympic College Advanced Video Production Class, made the event memorable and well-organized. The young performers involved in the Bremerton Youth Symphony Orchestra and Kitsap Children’s Musical Theatre reminded us what great talent we have in our community. The Kitsap Conference Center Staff were as always, very helpful and accommodating of our needs.

And lastly, the many people who made monetary donations in support of the foundation (tickets, matching gifts, raise the paddle auction) to support our mission and increase our endowments — we exist because people like you care about the current and future needs of our community.

You all inspire us!
