| Wow!!! How can anyone allow this woman to write an editorial regarding the experiences of blacks? I completely understand the fact that this is an opinion of someone, but to allow her to say “The pony hidden in slavery is the fact that it was the ticket to America for black people” is insane.
Please inform this woman that we as African-Americans never booked this “ticket.” We did not ask to be brought here and we definitely did not ask to be treated and enslaved by people. What a notion for her to suggest that our being brought here was the work of God. God had nothing to do with the perpetual enslavement of people. The treatment of African-Americans by hanging, beating, raping, and taking our children had nothing to do with the work of God.
I am completely and utterly offended that you have allowed this white woman who has no idea of the African-American experience to discuss it in the same context as politics, or education. There are many, many African-American Republicans. Some Republicans do not agree with President Bush, and some do. Others have opinions about President Clinton. Do us a favor; if your goal is to discuss education, and/or religion please do so in your own context and leave African-Americans out of it.
