LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Editor vs. Editor
Lary Coppola is NOT the only one who believes a local daily “news” paper has compromised itself ethically, not just over its coverage of NASCAR, but over nearly every “controversial” issue that crosses their “news” desk.

After years of observing the actions of the daily “news” paper’s managers, I’ve concluded they burn with a desire to serve as “catalysts for positive future change.” In other words, they will manipulate “news” reporting to achieve their desired outcome by using words and structuring sentences to subtly guide their readers to a future shaped and directed by their self-anointed wisdom. Or they will spike a reporter’s article because it doesn’t fit their paradigm of a “positive future” (whatever that means).

This insidious subterfuge was evident in the response to Mr. Coppola’s commentary by local daily “news” paper editor, Scott Ware. After Ware said, “advocates for and against the track complain that we’re not reporting the controversy favorably enough for their side,” Ware proves he is indeed biased when he lists comments from letter writers:

opponent
supporter
opponent
supporter
opponent

Ware starts with an opponent, ends with an opponent. Unbiased? Heck no.

It’s obvious Coppola rankled the local daily “news” paper editor, inducing a knee-jerk reaction. Apparently Scott Ware is quick to point out the bias in others but is blinded to his own.
