LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
NASCAR

Our county commissioners are to be commended for having the courage to openly meet with the NASCAR people — in spite of all the negative propaganda generated by the anti-everything crowd that have made careers out of ruining the economy of Kitsap County.

A NASCAR track here is a once in a lifetime opportunity to create jobs and expand the tax base without a great deal of negative environmental impact.

Will there be noise? Yes. Traffic? Yes. But for how long? A few hours a couple of weekends a year. It isn’t permanent.

Visitors will come here, spend massive amounts of money in our hotels, shops, restaurants, stores, etc. — and then leave. The sheer amount of tax revenue generated for the county and the state will more than offset any inconvenience we may experience on those days.

I trust our elected officials to make sure this is a good financial deal for the taxpayers. Once we know it is, we should give it the green flag — and proceed directly to Victory Lane!!!
