LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Republicans

In his most recent editorial, Lary Coppola stated that Republicans are “obsessed with what goes on in our bodies and bedrooms.” He further states that Republicans want to closely monitor, regulate and/or prevent personal pleasure, and that Republicans should “get over” Roe v. Wade, and stop obsessing (his word) over homosexuality.

These complaints betray his great misunderstanding or mask his intentional bias against Republicans.

First, one doesn’t just “get over” Roe v. Wade. The sanctity of human life is the bedrock of our culture. It isn’t just something to be gotten over, like a bad cold. It is a matter of principle.

Second, if homosexuality would just stay in the bedroom, between two consenting adults, nothing would interest Republicans less. However, the editor must be aware that homosexuality entered the political arena when homosexuals, not Republicans, demanded it be a part of our schools’ curriculum, and demanded that our society change the traditional concept of marriage.

I hope that this helps to set the record straight, and improves Mr. Coppola’s understanding of Republican beliefs.
