My Time is Precious
The sun is rising, the water is smooth as glass and Seattle is growing closer by the minute. Where am I you ask? On the Aqua Express, the new foot ferry from Kingston to Seattle that has made my commute one of the more enjoyable experiences of my day.
I moved up to Seattle from sunny, not so sunny lately, California. Before I even decided on the move I was in constant contact with the Aqua Express management to see the exact ins and outs of it all. The boats schedule fit mine perfectly, giving me an extra hour of sleep in the morning, seeing as my drive was cut down to seven minutes rather than the thirty minute trek to Bainbridge. With the Bainbridge ferry I used to have to literally run to make the 5:30 boat in the evening and hope to find an actual seat where I could only sit for about twenty minutes before having to stand by the door to insure Id be one of the first in the race to the parking lot.
Now, I take the 6:20 with the Aqua Express which allows me to run instead at the gym. Something Id been wanting to do since I arrived, but just couldnt find the time or energy after my state ferry commute. My day is more productive and I now have time to literally smell the roses as I walk down the Harbor Steps.
The price was right, seeing as adding in the gas, parking fees, and overall wear and tear on my car, Im actually saving money with my monthly Aqua pass.
And the best part is the service. Instead of herding on and off the state ferry I walk on where Im greeted by name, find a cozy niche on the second floor and enjoy pleasant conversation as Im asked if Id like another refill on my coffee in the morning, or another glass of wine in the evening.
Sound too good to be true? Try it and youll see why I cant help but smile every time I think about the new quality of life this vessel has afforded me. Thank you to all the crew on board the Aqua Express for bringing me to and from Seattle every day in style.
