LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Rental Market

This is a brief response to Connie Christman, President, Puget Rental Owners Association, in the September KPBJ.

Yes, indeed, I searched the Bremerton Sun’s classified ads for rentals under $400. There were no results returned by search engine (although I did see one apt. advertised for $390/mo.). Fairly typical income for persons in public housing is around $500/month.

Please explain how someone receiving as I do, about $700/month in SSDI, is supposed to survive and pay rent of $600 on up to sky’s the limit. That doesn’t cover up front deposits. And then Bush administration’s HUD has recently instituted severe cutbacks on Section 8 rentals.

I don’t see how that helps rental owners? I guess you must think that poor old ladies like me should sleep raw? With my chronic bronchitis (and, no, I don’t smoke), I certainly wouldn’t last very long out doors. Of course, if the poor all died, that would solve your problem, now, I suppose you think? You wouldn’t have to pay any tax dollars to maintain us. We’re just a bunch of parasites anyway, aren’t we?
