We have been seeing accolades about Kitsap County Consolidated Housing Authority. Granted, KCCHA has accomplished some positive changes. However, there are also negative ramifications to be considered.
KCCHA is a government entity, which has grown beyond its intended purpose. They are in direct competition with private rental property owners and it has become a big issue statewide. Property purchased by KCCHA is taken off the tax roles and taxpayers make up the loss!
KCCHAs property is valued at $300 million and they are not paying taxes! They are now expanding to Mason Co. to the dismay of those taxpayers. We are footing the bill for the property they purchase, building, and management costs and in many cases for the tenant as well.
If you look in the Classifieds, you will find plenty of affordable housing. Rental owners are paying taxes on their properties, as are other taxpayers. Remember the Petersville Rd. controversy? Most homeowners were against the project. It was built anyway. We need to stand up as informed voters. They have taken enough of our hard earned dollars!
