Tort Reform

It’s nice to know that somewhere there is a legislature that isn’t owned by the trial lawyers.

I am saddened that Representative Pat Lantz has been unable to do her job as chair to move legislation forward that will end the financial screwing businesses, governments, and professionals must endure to feed the out of control trial lawyer bar in this state.

Here is a news item that should have been in our press:

Malpractice tort reform bill poised for passage in Missouri House

A medical malpractice tort reform bill appears close to clearance in the Missouri House of Representatives. The bill won tentative approval Tuesday and would lower the current cap on non-economic damages in medical malpractice cases to $350,000 and eliminate future increases due to inflation. The bill also would set a $400,000 cap on total damages from cases involving hospital emergency rooms.
