As Bremerton Ice Arena enters the home stretch towards opening (first day of skating is Saturday, May 17th), I want to take this opportunity to recognize and thank a special team from Bainbridge Island who have helped transform the dream into reality.

In keeping with the “support the local economy” theme of the arena project, I enlisted the architectural services of Miles Yanick & Company. Much as he did with Central Market in Poulsbo, Miles Yanick brought superb expertise to bear in designing a highly practical and functional facility, coupled with responsible environmental sensitivity and energy efficiency. Already, the design is receiving rave reviews.

In addition to Miles, I extend my sincere thanks and appreciation to Kathleen Bergum, Lavorka Knezevic, Michael Rausch, Carol Peters, et al. Great job!
