LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Wal-Mart

I hope that the community understands that the loss of their wonderful town will be a waste. Wal-Mart will come in and destroy it. Lets look at it this way:

One job created by Wal-Mart.
Minus one job destroyed at another local business -

Equals one job.

Wal-Mart never talks about the jobs that are lost. All they talk about is the jobs they create. Most businesses’ overall traffic is down 20 percent and sales see a loss of 50 percent.

Wal-Mart stores says they are proud to buy American, but then why has Wal-Mart become the new “Great Wall” of China, importing more foreign goods than any other single American retailer in history?

In 1998 Wal-Mart opened its huge foreign trade sub-zone distribution center in Buckeye, Arizona — a $20 Million, 1.2 Million square foot warehouse. Wal-Mart became the first United States retailer to have its own foreign trade zone status on a large scale. Wal-Mart uses the zone for imports, storage, distribution of imported goods, and packaging of items for its own use and for export.

“The truth is,” says the national labor committee, “Wal-Mart has moved far more products offshore then the industry average.”

Please tell your readers it takes us all in the community to keep this giant out.
