LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Supports Jackley

Lois McMahan claims a Brock Jackley mailer includes “lies” about her past voting record. Two of the alleged “lies” are subjective opinions; I am at a loss for how she can claim the mailer was factually incorrect. The following quotes are from Lois’ own literature, which attempts to justify her record.

“Fallacy — Voted against requiring criminal background checks on school employees (HB 2345, 1996).

Fact — This vote was against a last-minute amendment to the budget to provide extra funding for this program, not a vote against the program.”

“Fallacy — Voted against requiring juvenile prisons to notify schools about the past record of youth guilty of violent offenses or sex crimes (HB 1401, 1995).

Fact — Lois supported the original bill requiring notice; however she was forced to vote against the final version because it had inadequate privacy safeguards.”

Brock Jackley told the truth in his mailings. Records document how our legislators (previous and current) have voted. I would expect a former schoolteacher like Lois to know the difference between a “lie” and an “excuse.” Tell me Lois, where are the “lies”?

Please vote for Brock Jackley.
