| My Congressman, Jay Inslee spent a pile of taxpayer dollars on a mailer announcing co-sponsorship of the Telemarketing Relief Act of 2002 (H.R. 3911) that would not just require telemarketers to purge your phone numbers from their call lists, but would require some federal agency to keep a central data base.
If this is such a serious problem, what other function of the federal government should be curtailed to pay for the Bureau of Call Solicitation Prevention, its employees, computers, data base, and enforcement of its regulations? And which agency is appropriate? Homeland Security?
These people calling from wherever, are often a pain, but is it one that takes an act of Congress when there are actions we individual citizens can take such as readily available call blocking features? Congress is fast slipping back into the pre-1994 spendthrift mode, masking profligate spending beneath the need to stop Islamic terror. Truly, its time to put a fresh face in Congress. Joe Marine, you have my vote.
