| Has pettiness become that prevalent in Kitsap County that a housekeeping task of appointing a Chair for the Board of County Commissioners becomes front-page news?
Since it seems that this issue had already been discussed prior to the Board of County Commissioners’ weekly meeting, the appointment could and should have been handled much more graciously. Is there some type of unspoken agenda that would cause individuals to stomp out of the meeting, slamming the door behind them because one person was appointed over another? I don’t get it.
We live in a predominantly military community where so many of our residents have been personally affected by 9/11, which should have caused us to focus on what is really important.
We are surrounded by the breathtaking and natural beauty of the Olympics and Mt. Rainier. That should lift anyone’s spirits to a higher level. Yet, the quibbling and resultant publicity over the assignment of the Chair of the Board of County Commissioners should make us all ashamed of the image that Kitsap County projects by this type of pettiness.
