Letters To The Editor - The Charter
I'm more determined to vote in the charter after reading the opponent's attempt to impugn charter supporters and mislead the public. This is a governance document that cannot affect any ordinance or land use plan. Read the charter. It doesn't give anybody an advantage. It is a good and fair charter.

I feel that desperate people grasping at straws are attempting to use "boogey-men" to sway the impressionable. The opponents, who have grown fat at the trough slopped by the spendthrift Commissioners, fear an executive and council would put them on a diet.

We stand a better chance of keeping good environmental protections under the charter when change must pass through a system of checks and balances. We have a better opportunity for family wage jobs here when there is an executive to champion Kitsap rather than a Commissioner who must remain neutral to keep from being excluding from making land use decisions. We can make sure that they'll listen to us and act on what is important to us by having "agenda petition" power.

The only way any of this can happen is if we vote for the charter.

Sincerely,
Jack Bryant
