Most will agree that nothing man has ever done is perfect and that change is the only constant in life. Yet today, Kitsap County is stuck with a form of government, designed in the 19th Century and frankly, little about it has changed since then.
Shortly we will be voting to approve a charter that will not only bring us forward into the 21st Century, but will give us ample opportunity to correct our mistakes and adjust to change. Not only can changes be initiated during periodic reviews, but by the Council and by the people. And most important, it can only be changed by a vote of the people.
I like that: a government of the people, by the people, and for the people, the Kitsap County 2001 Charter.
