Letters To The Editor - County Charter
I received an unsolicited blast e-mail from a Democrat honcho Jim Sharpe, telling me that the Charter draft provision of by district elections for the council/commissioner is bad for working families in Kitsap County. What’s he smoking? He concludes that the provision will mean that Bainbridge, Suquamish, and Indianola will remain a strong Democrat council, but Scott Henden will all of a sudden have some imaginary advantage over Chris Endresen, what a joke.

We are a “working family” and my husband is an “enviro” and we have children in school. Mr. Sharpe and his fringe party doesn’t speak for us. Thanks to Mr. Sharpe and his ilk, I’ve had to explain oral sex and what the meaning of “is” is, what is a missing intern, who’s Gary Condit, and why county commissioners can view x-rated material at work to my children. The gall of this individual to try and speak for the “working families” of Kitsap County speaks volumes of how out of touch these elitists really are.

Elections by districts restore the one vote one person concept. Yes, I can understand why the elitists are worried, they see the people attempting to take back their government and they don’t like it, after all they are smarter than us, right? Wrong!

Dividing the County into five equal pieces and electing their council member within that particular district will mean equal representation at the legislative table. Then maybe, we’ll see some real change in this County and employers will start moving here and local problems like the Poulsbo 305 gridlock will get corrected.

Our “working family” is proudly supporting the Charter as written now!
