I am seeking support of our South Kitsap Community leaders in promoting the proposed Recreation Center. I believe this could be an asset to many business’ in our community.

The plans call for banquet rooms that will hold 300 people in one and 400 in the largest. Wouldn’t banquet rooms that size, be great in Port Orchard?

We will include three basketball courts, that may be used for a recreational league, as well as tournaments on weekends. Tournaments bring in teams from out of State as well as within the state. They will use the restaurants, motels and stores in our community.

Also planned is an indoor soccer field that will be used by local soccer clubs, as well as Soccer tournaments. Field hockey could also use it! Or when the High School field is too wet for practice for a play-off spot, they can use it!

The basketball courts will have “locks” in the floor (to hold equipment in place) allowing for the sport of gymnastic to be held here, at a higher level of competition. Special Olympics could also hold competitions. Four tennis courts will allow for tournaments and leagues. (90,000 sq. ft.)

This is a 20 year, $16,000,000 bond issue. $3.00 per hundred thousand. $36.00 a year at $100,000. This will cost the average taxpayer, anywhere from $3 to $5 a month. Users fees will pay for the cost and operations.

We are using information gathered from Recreation Center’s within Washington State, to determine cost and operations. South Kitsap Park & Recreation Commissioners will soon be making their decision in regard to putting the proposal on the November ballot.

We need your support! Letters to the local newspaper would be very helpful. Information regarding the Rec Center, at your business’ would be super! I can get the information to you.
