| The annual Kitsap County Budget should be available to the general public as a management tool for the proper oversight of the taxpayers’ business in a timely and appropriate manner. To assist in attainment of this goal it is recommended that a summary of the budget be published on the Internet and in the print media in the county.
With respect to the newspapers, perhaps a two full-page space purchase would provide sufficient area to allow those of the public interested to view the major categories, and either form judgments or to inquire deeper into the full budget document. The newspapers should be compensated in the usual manner that they sell their advertising space since they are, after all, in a profit making venture. In any event, since our county commissioners have just voted themselves hefty pay increases, it shouldn’t be too much to ask them to buy a little ad space.
