| The Kitsap County Council for Human Rights is looking for a person living in Commissioner District #3 that believes in equitable treatment of all citizens and has an interest in supporting local Human Rights efforts. Commissioner Tim Botkin will be selecting an interested community volunteer to represent his district, replacing Teresa Moses who will be moving away from the area.
The Councils twelve members advise the commissioners on issues related to prejudice, discrimination, racially motivated violence and malicious harassment. They promote equitable treatment of all citizens and work to reduce prejudice and its effects through education, prevention policies, resource referrals, and advocacy.
Except in December, the Council meets on the second Tuesday of every month at 6:00 p.m. Meetings are held at 1200 NW Fairgrounds Road, in the downstairs Parks and Recreation conference room.
Applications may be obtained at Kitsap County Volunteer Services, Department of Administrative Services, 614 Division Street, Port Orchard. For more information or to receive an application by mail, contact Jan Koske at (360) 337-4650 or jkoske@co.kitsap.wa.us. Applications must be received no later than 4:30 p.m. November 22. |
