Transportation
A good plan is hard to find. You always get the other kind. So it is with transportation, especially West Sound.

Build a divided four lane highway from “Bremerton Landing” to Shelton. Connect it to U.S. 101. Call this segment 101-A. Obtain Federal funds to help complete the Marine Highway between Bremerton and Seattle. Better than a new extra expensive bridge at Gig Harbor. Also better as a safe military link with McChord Air Force Base, Fort Lewis, Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and the Bangor Undersea Base.

This is a defense plan capable of obtaining some funds from military expenditures. Don’t forget on-going worldwide terrorism. After all, roads have quick repairs. Bridges take years.

Provide a four lane State Highway section near the vicinity of Belfair at the new 101-A and connecting Eastward to State Highway 16. Require all heavy equipment to use the U.S. 101-A in lieu of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge and State Route 16. Much wiser for safety factors.

Run the “Federal Ferries” of 101-A 24 hours a day with service every half hour. This would take three car ferries. One leaving Bremerton, one leaving Seattle and one in the middle. Perfect service and a tourist treat too! That’s the way to go! Why don’t we do this? Look to the future! Everybody wins!
