Letters To The Editor - Good acts recognized |
| Good acts should be recognized, acknowledged and communicated. Recently, I visited an elderly couple with very slippery stairs. The stairs are vital to them, since its the only way they can get to their cars in the garage. I pressure-washed the steps, but that didnt last; the shade from nearby trees ensured they would always sport the green tinge of algae. The usual solutions wont work, since these stairs wont even be dry until summer... (Full Article) |

Scary time to be a legislator
By Adele Fergusen |
| Not that Gov. Gary Lockes state of the state address to the Legislature was any spellbinder, but it was surprising that it was carried live by only one radio station, KVI, and the Olympia public TV network, considering it was only 21 minutes long... (Full Article) |

Letters To The Editor - Snubbing Angel |
| The Kitsap County Republican Party denounces the snubbing of Commissioner Angel, South Kitsap, from serving her turn as Chair of the Board of County Commissioners as nothing but partisan politics. The commissioners are co-equal elected officials and when actions of this nature are taken the action can only be seen as not only snubbing Angel and South Kitsap constituents but all of Kitsap County citizens... Letters To The Editor - Abuse of Power? |
Abuse of power has been proven to be the cancer of a democratic society. This cancer is magnified when the abuse is based on unqualified, assumed power.
Both Commissioner Endresen and The Sun regularly engage in the abuse of power. One is entrusted with the sacred duty of reporting news and events in a fair and unbiased fashion, the other is entrusted with the sacred duty of representing, and protecting the rights of, Kitsap County tax-paying citizens... Letters To The Editor - Charter Myths vs. Reality |
| I was proud to serve as one of the 21 elected Freeholders during the last year and am equally proud of the product we crafted. | I'm more determined to vote in the charter after reading the opponent's attempt to impugn charter supporters and mislead the public. Letters To The Editor - The Charter |
| The proposed charter does not abrogate any powers given to the county's people by the state constitution. It delineates how county government will accomplish the county's business by delegating these powers to a county council, county executive and the voters, and in so doing, gives the voters a direct voice regarding their governance... Approving the charter in February is a no-brainer.
