| Donna (DJ) Phipps and Officer Beth Deatherage have been recognized by the City of Port Orchard as Employees of the Quarter for the first and second quarters of 2008. The recognition is a citywide expansion of what had previously only been done in the Public Works Department.
Phipps, the Public Works Office Manager, did triple-duty as a Permitting Coordinator and Plan Technician for a number of months, and was honored for her commitment to the City for stepping up and assuming those tasks during the transitional time between when the previous City Engineer/Public Works Director resigned and the new one was hired.
DJ is the glue that held everything together, said Mayor Lary Coppola. We sincerely appreciate her dedication and commitment. I dont know what we would have done without her.
Officer Deatherage was honored for the second quarter. She was responsible for investigating, and ultimately breaking up, a burglary ring that had been operating in the city for several months.
We are truly grateful for Beths efforts, said the Mayor. Our citizens and businesses are safer today, thanks to her.
Both receive a framed certificate and will be the Mayors guest for lunch.
