| Seventeen year old Amber Hoak of Poulsbo is the recipient of Soroptimists 2007 Violet Richardson Award, which recognizes young women between the ages of 14 and 17 for volunteer service to their communities.
Hoak has volunteered at Harrison Hospital in Silverdale for three years, and has accumulated 450 plus hours of service. She aspires to attend a four year university and be involved in the medical field and believes it is not only important to volunteer, but to be an advocate of service as well.
Hoak is a North Kitsap High School Honor Society President, and Associated Student Body (ABS) Representative. Another way she is involved is through the Miss Kingston Scholarship Pageant, which allows her to make a difference in her community and inspires her to make a difference in peoples lives.
The Violet Richarson Award of $250 was presented to Hoak on Jan. 15.
