SKSD’s Cheney honored
with Crystal Apple Award

The Washington School Public Relations Association (WSPRA) has announced the winners of its annual leadership awards and publications contest. WSPRA honors individuals and organizations that have demonstrated exceptional leadership in the field of school public relations.

The 2005 WSPRA Crystal Apple Award was presented to South Kitsap School District Superintendent Beverly J. Cheney. The award is presented annually to an individual outside of the school public relations field who has demonstrated consistent support for school public relations.

“Dr. Cheney is an advocate for school communications and community relations. As superintendent, she understands the value of a successful communications program and has made it a part of our district’s mission and vision,“ said Aimee Warthen, WSPRA past president and community relations coordinator for the South Kitsap School District. “Her commitment to open communications has made a huge impact in our community and how our community members perceive the district.”.
