Suquamish Tribe elects
Forsman council chairman

The Suquamish Tribe General Council elected two new Tribal Council Officers at its recent annual meeting held at the Suquamish Tribal Center.

Leonard Forsman was elected as the tribe’s new chairman and Linda Holt as its new secretary. The Chairman and Secretary positions are three-year terms that begin immediately. Tribal members over 18 years old are eligible to vote and 270 members voted in the election.

Forsman is a lifetime resident of the Port Madison Indian Reservation and is employed as the Tribal spokesperson for the Suquamish Tribe. “I look forward to leading the Suquamish Tribe in this pivotal time in its history” he said. “The Tribe is beginning to acquire the resources needed to not only care for the health and well-being of its nearly 900 members, but also to maintain its rightful place among local, county and state governments.”.
