Gov. Gary Locke recently announced the appointment of Derek Kilmer of Gig Harbor to the Tacoma Community College Board of Trustees.

Kilmer, who currently works as business retention manager for the Economic Development Board for Tacoma-Pierce County, will serve on the Board of Trustees for a term ending Sept. 30, 2006.

Kilmer is the vice chair and a board member of the Communities in Schools of the Peninsula and a board member of the Gig Harbor-Peninsula Area Chamber of Commerce. This fall he will complete his Ph.D. in comparative social policy from the University of Oxford in Oxford, United Kingdom.
