Hanten to head Olympic College Foundation

Joan Bellant Hanten has been named as Executive Director of the Olympic College Foundation. She replaces Cary Bozeman who resigned when he was elected mayor of Bremerton. She brings 17 years of experience from a diverse working career, most recently that of a judicial law clerk for Chief Judge J. Robin Hunt of the Washington State Court of Appeals in Tacoma.

A local resident for 11 years, Hanten was Executive Director of the Leadership Kitsap Foundation for three years until 1998. Previously, she also worked as a national sales director for Capital Cities/ABC Broadcasting and was a managing partner for Morrison’s Lodge at Grants Pass, Oregon.

Hanten became an attorney after earning a juris doctorate degree from Seattle University School of Law last year. She holds a certificate from the Advanced Management Program from Smith College (Northampton, MA), and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Portland (Portland, OR).
