Silverdale resident Nancy Whitaker, a loan officer with Washington Mutual, has been selected as the Puget Sound Charter Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association (ABWA) Community Woman of the Year for 2001-2001.

Whitaker, who is extremely active in community activities, is the current president-elect of the Silverdale Chamber of Commerce and very involved in Chamber projects, including fund-raising and working to unite the business community to continue making Silverdale a friendly place to do business.

She serves on the Paul Linder Foundation and is past president of the organization, which raises money in support of Central Kitsap schools special projects. She is also the major volunteer who puts on the annual Central Kitsap Linder Putt for Education in December and the Trident Triple Bike Race in the spring.
