Robert Banks has joined Kitsap Bank at the main branch in Port Orchard as Vice President/Commercial Loan Officer. David K. Johnson, president and CEO of Westsound Bank and Mortgage announced the promotion of two executives. Mark Freeman has been named CFO/ executive vice president of finance and operations. Raytheon names Reed Torpedo
and Readiness Center executive
Raytheon Company has named Terry Reed as mission center executive and general manager of Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems&Mac226; Torpedo and Readiness Center in Keyport and Poulsbo. In this role, Reed will oversee the management and support of the center’s more than 200 employees. In addition to this mission center executive role, Reed will retain her responsibilities as a torpedo program manager, a position she has held for 10 years.

Reed has 16 years of experience with Raytheon. She also has a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from the University of California, Los Angeles and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Southern California.

Weedin successfully completes CRM course
Dan Weedin of Toro Insurance Consultants, Inc. has successfully completed the Certified Risk Managers (CRM) Principles of Risk Management course.

The risk management course attended is one of five parts offered by The National Alliance of Insurance Education and Research. After the successful completion of all five courses covering all major areas of the risk management field, and five comprehensive examinations, he will be awarded the CRM designation. Local man helps ring the opening bell on Wall St.
David Nason COO of Poulsbo’s e-Acceleration, Inc. was invited to New York City to help ‘ring in’ Embarq’s first day of trading on Wall Street. Poulsbo-based e-Acceleration, which employs 250 people, is a client firm of Embarq.

Embarq selected Nason to join its executives and other selected clients as they rang the bell that begins the day’s trading. Ringing of the famed bell by company executives is an old Wall St. tradition to celebrate a company’s listing on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and its first day of trading.

Nielsen accepts award
at Rotary District Conference
District governor, Erik Frederickson of Port Townsend recently presented an award to well known local Rotarian, Niels Nielsen of the Port Orchard Rotary Club. The presentation was made at the annual Rotary District Conference held in Victoria, B.C. Nielson accepted the award on behalf of the Port Orchard Club, which is now the 14th highest giver per capita to the Rotary Foundation within the 87-club District 5020.

Allvest names Robinson
as Employee of the Year
Cindy Robinson, facility director for contractor Allvest Work Release, L.L.C. at state-owned Peninsula Work Release in Port Orchard, was named employee of the year by the staff. Administration is not usually recognized with this award, but they felt her contributions merited it.

Robinson began with the company when the facility opened in April of 1996. She was promoted several times until she received the director position in 1998.

Leadership Kitsap has appointed Jay Mills, as a new member of the organization’s board of directors. He is employed by Port Madison Enterprises (PME), the business arm of the Suquamish Tribe, and serves as the general manager at Kiana Lodge.

Mills has worked for the tribe and PME the past 29 years, the last two years at Kiana Lodge. He has held a number of different positions from retail manager, bingo manager, electronic games manager and now Kiana Lodge general manager.

Poulsbo Allstate agent honored
for volunteerism
Randi Jantz received Allstate Insurance’s Agency Hands in the Community award for her commitment to local volunteering. The award comes with a $500 grant from The Allstate Foundation for the Kids First – La Puerta De Opportunidad where Jantz volunteers.

Through the “Agency Hands in the Community” grant program, Allstate agents and financial specialists are recognized for outstanding commitment to community service with a $500 donation to the charitable organization where they volunteer. To qualify for the grant, agents must show evidence of volunteer work that has had a positive impact on the local community.

McDermott joins library Board of Trustees
Teresa McDermott was recently appointed by Commissioner Patty Lent to represent Central Kitsap on the Kitsap Regional Library Board of Trustees.

As an educational administrator at Olympic College, McDermott oversees the cooperative education and internship program. Her mission is to assist students with “connecting education to work” by participating in work-based learning experiences related to their major for academic credit. She has more than 20 years of marketing and project management experience and over the years, has enjoyed collaborating and establishing partnerships with businesses, schools and organizations to promote education and employment opportunities.

She has also co-published a community newspaper, the Kitsap Chronicle.
