Kerner named as new manager at Midway Inn |
Aliza Inc., owner and operator of the newly renovated Midway Inn in Bremerton recently announced the appointment of Deborah Kerner as new general manager of the hotel.
Kerner comes from Seaside, Oregon where she managed the Inn at the Shore and the Edgewater Inn. Being an avid painter, she also owned and operated her own art gallery in Nehalem, Oregon.

After 26 years of dedicated service with Kitsap Bank, Laila Overberg, Vice President and Human Resources Director, has announced her retirement. Overberg has served in a variety of leadership roles throughout her tenure with the bank.

Gateway closes Silverdale store |
The Gateway Country computer store in Silverdale shut its doors on March 24. The store employed approximately 15 people. Gateway stores in Olympia and Kennewick were also closed.
The closure was part of a national plan announced by the company that called for the shuttering of one third of its retail outlets and the elimination of 1900 jobs. The move is expected to save the financially strapped computer maker about $400 million a year.
The only Gateway stores left open in the state are in Redmond, Tacoma and Lynnwood. |

Kitsap Community Foundation, a non-profit public foundation dedicated to building endowments to benefit Kitsap County, seeks individuals interested in helping to found a Second Chance Scholarship.
The scholarship seeks to encourage motivated students who might not otherwise qualify for financial assistance for college. Once established, the fund will provide an additional resource to the community for generations to come.
