| Despite the third-straight reported decline in their confidence in the economy, most small business owners are satisfied with their lot, according to a recent Wells Fargo/Gallup Small Business Index survey.
The index fell to the second-lowest level since the surveys inception in 2003. The 16-point drop to 83 is the indexs largest quarterly decrease to date, but satisfaction levels were almost unchanged.
The recent decline is a 31-point drop the record high of 114 set in December of 2006. The Index score is the sum of both current and future expectations for six measures: financial situation, cash flow, revenues, capital allocation, job hiring, and credit availability.
Despite the recent drop in overall optimism, respondents said overwhelmingly they are still satisfied with being small business owners. Satisfaction levels were almost unchanged from October. Some 90 of small business owners were satisfied with their career chose and 85 percent said they would do it again if they could do it all over.
