New community bank forming in North Kitsap
Poulsbo will be the home of new community bank before the year is out according to Bill Fogerty, who will serve as the CEO. Liberty Bank (in organization) will be headquartered on 7th Avenue, and anticipates opening in November if all goes as planned.

The list of directors of the bank reads like a who’s who of North Kitsap, and includes longtime Kingston developer and investor Bill Parnell; Eric Anderson, head of the Bremerton marine engineering firm of Art Anderson Associates; Gene Anest, who is in the timber business; retired pharmacist Quentin Gilman; Rodger Schmuck, a government contractor who does a lot of work at Keyport; retired banker Klaus Golombeck, who also the original CEO when Bremerton’s Westsound Bank was organized a few years back; Ron Cleaver, an engineer with Team 4; and Jeff Uberagua, the general sales manager at Liberty Bay Auto.

The idea of starting a new bank came about when Parnell was approached several months ago by a consultant who has organized a number of successful banks. While the group elected not to work with the that consultant, did feel North Kitsap was ready for a new community bank, and decided to move ahead with the project.
