Preventing illegal workplace harassment
Firm offers Web-based corporate training
Phoenix, Ariz.-based Corpedia Corp. has announced the release of a Web-based, Internet-tracked training course, Recognizing & Preventing Illegal Workplace Harassment. Under federal legislation, employers are liable for harassment committed by anyone in the workplace. However, employers may avoid liability, if they show they did not consent to the act of harassment, exercised due diligence to prevent it and acted subsequently to mitigate its effects.

The course illustrates how to reduce exposure to personal and corporate liability by recognizing and preventing the occurrence of all types of illegal workplace harassment, including:

• Sexual Harassment
• Sexual Orientation Discrimination
• Sexual Orientation Harassment
• Racial Harassment
• Ethnic or National Origin Harassment
• Religious Harassment
• Disability Harassment
• Age Harassment

The course discusses how workers can avoid actions or comments that can be considered harassing and what to do, if you feel you are a victim of harassment. It explains what behavior constitutes illegal harassment when it is unwelcome, aimed at a member of a protected class and interferes with the victims work environment. The course also points out how recognizing the benefits of diversity can minimize harassment in the workplace.

The course contains streaming audio and text, animation, graphics, interactions and a proprietary tracking and administration system. The program enables employer’s to add company-specific policies and customized content. Plus, Corpedia’s tracking system can measure user-training comprehension and prove that the employee knew their organization’s compliance policies through an assessment feature.
