Citigroup posts 49% profit jump |
Citigroup Inc. reported an impressive 49 percent profit increase for the first-quarter, easily topping Wall Streets expectations as the nations largest financial service company reaped the benefits of the economic expansion.
Citigroup reported net income of $3.6 billion, or $1.04 a share. Analysts had expected the company to earn just 78 cents a share. In the year-ago quarter, Citigroup had net income of $2.4 billion or 68 cents a share. |

American Marine pays tax day dividend |
Shareholders of AMB Financial Services Corp., the parent company of the Bainbridge Island-based American Marine Bank, received a bonus on April 15 a dividend check.
The companys board of directors declared a 60-cent quarterly dividend at its regular March meeting, which was payable on tax day. |

Viking Bank posts impressive gains |
Ballard-based Viking Community Bank, which opened a new branch in Poulsbo last month, recently announced earnings for the first quarter.
The bank recorded a net profit of $321,029, which was a 15 percent increase over the $278,547 posted for the same period a year ago.
Deposits of $122.8 million are up by 41 percent and assets showed a gain of 33.5 percent to $133 million. Net loans were also up 28 percent. |
