PPRC brings together agencies and businesses for climate change and toxics reduction discussions
On October 5-6, the Pacific Northwest Pollution Prevention Resource Center will be hosting the Pollution Prevention Regional Roundtable at the Suquamish Clearwater Casino Resort in Suquamish.
This year’s roundtable, “Emerging Trends in Climate Change and Toxics Reduction: Tools for Business and Industry,” features keynote speaker Anita Burke from the Catalyst Institute in Boulder, Colo. along with leaders from REI, USB Financial Services, General Biodiesel, Clark Nuber, StormwateRx, and various agencies, including the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
Day one includes two separate site tours that are free and open to the public. The first tour will be offered by Kitsap County Water Quality Specialists who will lead visits to various sites and offer interpretation of these approaches to stormwater management and low impact development.
The second tour will look at how acidification is impacting the Puget Sound shellfish industry with a visit to the Taylor Shellfish Hatchery in Dabob Bay with members of the hatchery, People for Puget Sound, NOAA, and Sustainable Fisheries Partnership.
That evening, Peter Donaldson will presenting “Puget Sound: 2050,” an interpretative and engaging look at the positive vision of what sustainability in our bioregion looks like once we get there.
Day two will commence with the keynote address by Anita Burke, followed by two separate tracks, ‘Climate Change & Energy Efficiency’ and ‘Green Chemistry & Toxics Reduction.’ The day will conclude with a roundtable discussion titled “Advancing Your Green Business Priorities: Navigating the Soft Patch.”
