Kingston Lumber achieves Green Dealer status

Kingston Lumber recently announced it has achieved Green Dealer status. The staff participated in a voluntary educational training and testing program on good green building practices and product choices in the lumber and building materials industry.

The Certified Green Dealer program was created under the auspices of the LBM Journal, a national trade magazine serving the lumber and building materials industry. The program is based entirely on demonstrated understanding by lumber dealer personnel of “best practices” building science and building basics.

To become a Certified Green Dealer 75 percent or more of the sales staff is required to view a series of Web-based videos and pass seven tests and a final exam about building basics, green building, and green building products.

“We here at Kingston Lumber are very proud of this achievement and are committed to ongoing green education, green products, and best green practices,” said Joe Hurtt, general manager of Kingston Lumber. “We feel strongly that we all need to do our part to preserve the environment for our children and grandchildren. I would like to thank all of our employees who participated in this program, with special thanks to Annie Hansen and Michele Pritchard, our green leaders.”
