State-of-the-art da Vinci surgical system arrives at Harrison Silverdale
da Vinci® Surgical System
The Silverdale campus of Harrison Medical Center will be the first hospital on the Kitsap and Olympic Peninsulas to offer robotic, minimally invasive surgery.

The da Vinci system combines robotic and surgical technology — with surgeon as master — and is on the leading edge of minimally invasive surgery. It's is the newest surgical technique, and allows surgeons to perform procedures robotically with a minimal amount of pain and inconvenience, that in some cases previously required major incisions, anesthesia and overnight hospitalization. It offers patients an array of benefits, including faster recovery time.

The 2,000-pound robot arrived at Harrison on June 26, underwent a series of tests, and was moved to a surgical suite, where it was installed.

Harrison spokesperson Patti Hart said that they expect to perform the first procedure with the da Vinci robot towards the end of July, after the machine is fully installed and calibrated, and surgeons and staff have completed training.

Within the next couple of weeks, Harrison will invite the press and interested members of the public to see a demonstration of the robot in action.
