Lowe’s Home Improvement
sets sights on Silverdale
Mooresville, N.C.-based Lowe’s Home Improvement will soon start construction of a new, 102,000 square-foot store at the southeast corner of Myhre Road and Mickelberry Road in Silverdale, right behind Costco.

“We expect construction to begin in late spring,” said Lowe’s Spokeswoman Maureen Rich.

The do-it-yourself retailer, which just recently opened a new store in Port Orchard, expects to open in Silverdale during the fourth quarter of this year.

Rich said, “Lowe’s is always evaluating new sites.” She said the retailer looks at hundreds of factors, including the potential for growth and homeownership, when evaluating possible new store locations.

“Certainly in Silverdale we see a great potential for growth and that was one factor of hundreds we considered in expanding,” she said.

The Silverdale store will create approximately 120 new jobs, and represents a $12 million investment in Silverdale.

The new store will offer more than 32,000 products and include a 28,700-square-foot garden center with a selection of flowers, bushes, trees and garden supplies suited to Washington’s climate and lifestyle.

Lowe’s partners with Habitat for Humanity, the American Red Cross, United Way and the Home Safety Council. In 2007, Lowe’s and the Lowe’s Charitable and Educational Foundation together contributed more than $27.5 million to support community and education projects in the United States and Canada. To date, Lowe’s Charitable and Educational Foundation has donated more than $550,000 in the state of Washington.
